Obama's Version of Big Brother for Americans

From from czars to plans to prop up dying newspapers to serve the party line, to government "medical experts" deciding who will live and who will die to school children singing the praises of our "dear leader" are we prepared for a "Big Brother" America? Thomas Sowell speculates based on the evidence we have so far from this administration.

Just one year ago, would you have believed that an unelected government official, not even a Cabinet member confirmed by the Senate but simply one of the many "czars" appointed by the president, could arbitrarily cut the pay of executives in private businesses by 50% or 90%?

Did you think that another "czar" would be talking about restricting talk radio? That there would be plans afloat to subsidize newspapers — to create a situation where some papers' survival would depend on the government liking what they publish?

Did you imagine that anyone would even be talking about having a panel of so-called "experts" deciding who could and could not get lifesaving medical treatments?

Scary as that is from a medical standpoint, it is also chilling from the standpoint of freedom. If you have a mother who needs a heart operation or a child with some dire medical condition, how free would you feel to speak out against an administration that has the power to make life-and-death decisions about your loved ones?
Does any of this sound like America?

How about a federal agency giving schoolchildren material to enlist them on the side of the president? Merely being assigned to sing his praises in class is apparently not enough.

How much of America would be left if the federal government continued on this path? President Obama has already floated the idea of a national police force, something we have done without for more than two centuries

The Noose Around the Goose That Lays The Golden Eggs

It's not often I agree with Peggy Noonan's kind of mushy observations on our culture, economy and government. But today she hits it pretty much on the nail. We are being run by a bunch that have no idea how their actions hurt ordinary Americans...How their meddling is ruining the goose that laid the golden egg, OUR PRODUCERS. By taking away our freedom and tightening the noose around the goose they are laying waste to our beloved America. Without Atlases, the men who hold up the world - the producers, inventors, creators, and titans of Industry, the rest of us will languish with a bleak future. These atlases should throw down their tools and build a Galt's Gulch - then the big mouthed Washington politicians can do see what they can do without giants to disparage, rob and abuse.

...When I see those in government, both locally and in Washington, spend and tax and come up each day with new ways to spend and tax—health care, cap and trade, etc.—I think: Why aren't they worried about the impact of what they're doing? Why do they think America is so strong it can take endless abuse?

I think I know part of the answer. It is that they've never seen things go dark. They came of age during the great abundance, circa 1980-2008 (or 1950-2008, take your pick), and they don't have the habit of worry. They talk about their "concerns"—they're big on that word. But they're not really concerned. They think America is the goose that lays the golden egg. Why not? She laid it in their laps. She laid it in grandpa's lap.

They don't feel anxious, because they never had anything to be anxious about. They grew up in an America surrounded by phrases—"strongest nation in the world," "indispensable nation," "unipolar power," "highest standard of living"—and are not bright enough, or serious enough, to imagine that they can damage that, hurt it, even fatally.

We are governed at all levels by America's luckiest children, sons and daughters of the abundance, and they call themselves optimists but they're not optimists—they're unimaginative. They don't have faith, they've just never been foreclosed on. They are stupid and they are callous, and they don't mind it when people become disheartened. They don't even notice. READ at WSJ

Madam Pelosi: Let's Talk Constitution

As Americans go through our Public School system, we are ever more and more relegating our Constitution to the back burner because our teachers and administrators are derelict in their duty to inform us of our history. Our Founding Fathers envisioned a document that would provide guidance for Americans regarding the protection of individual liberties. Written mostly by James Madison it is well worth our effort to read this document, understand it and then hold our politicians accountable when they try to diminish our liberties.

Listen as Pelosi squirms her way out of answering the all too infrequently asked question to politicians as to "where specifically does the Constitution grant congress the authority to enact an individual Health Insurance Mandate"? Pelosi's NON-answer and clearly she is squirming - is truly disgusting.

Lies and Hypocrisy Of Pelosi and Reid

Watch as Pelosi and Reid vilify an industry because of their profits! America IS the land of Can Do and Profits! Figures that power-lusting politicians and rich ones at that would come out with this anti-American stand. To cap this off the insurance companies are way down the list in terms of profit margins! This is nothing but scapegoating and down-right lies to pass the Health care reform bill come hell or high water.

Politicians Out Of Touch With The Idea of FREEDOM

Daniel Henninger wrote a great piece at the WSJ commenting on how Obama and the old, craggy, ancient politicians are out of touch with today's world. They are out of touch all right - out of touch with the principles upon which this nation was founded: LIFE, LIBERTY and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.

...The culture still believes the U.S. has a hipster for president. But the Obama health-care bill, and maybe this whole administration, is starting to look totally out of sync with the new zeitgeist, the spirit of the age.

Everything about the health-care exercise is looking very old hat, starting with the old guys working on it. Max Baucus, Patrick Leahy, Pete Stark—all were elected to Congress in the 1970s, and live on as the immortals in Washington's Forever Land. But it's more than the fact that Congress looks old. The health-care bill is big, complex, incomprehensible and coercive—all the things people hate nowadays.

It's easy to make jokes about how insubstantial the millions of people seem to be who are constantly using technologies like Twitter. But these new digital and Web-based technologies, which have decentralized virtually everything, now occupy most of the average person's waking hours at work or at home. Mass media is struggling to stay massive in a world whose people want to break up into many discrete markets.

The one lump that won't change is government. Government in our time is looking out of it. It'd be one thing if government were almost cool in an old-fashioned way, but it's not. When everyone else's job gets measured by performance, its hallmark is malperformance—whether in Congress, California or New York. READ "Obama and The Old Hat People".

The Latest Villain - The Insurance Companies - When Will This Witchhunt Stop?

You want the truth? The insurance companies are an industry which offers a product. The reason they are getting more and more screwed up is government control. Will the takeover of our economy by bureaucrats in Washington ever end? And MORE IMPORTANT - when are we going to demand they stop!

Washington's latest target is America's "fat cat" health insurance companies. A closer look reveals a vital but vulnerable industry, not the greedy, profiteering image pushed by health reformers.

We've seen "Big Oil" dragged to Capitol Hill to be slandered by power-hungry senators and congressmen for finding, extracting and refining the lifeblood commodity of the global economy. We've seen the pharmaceutical industry drawn and quartered for doing what it takes to discover, make and market lifesaving and life-enhancing drugs.

The latest villain in the politicians' demagogic fantasyland is private health insurance. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has accused private insurers of making "immoral profits." And they're a prime target for taxes to pay for the health care revolution Congress and the White House have planned.

But in fact, as we pointed out recently in these pages, this is an industry that actually lags many others in the U.S. economy. Plenty of other sectors of private industry are doing far better.

And some of the things Washington has planned — in particular a "public option" — would leave private insurers bankrupt.

As the Associated Press recently reported, the health insurance industry's profit margins tend to be in the 6% range, not impressive at all when compared with other areas of insurance. Margins shrank to 2.2% last year, with health insurers ranking 35th on the Fortune 500 list of industries. As a result, the credit ratings of some leading insurers have been downgraded to negative. Government - ENOUGH WITH THE SPENDING

"I sincerely believe that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale."--

Thomas JeffersonThe Third President of the United States1743 ~ 1846

Brother Do You Have a Dime?

Mr Reid....if there's anything broken about our health care system it's due to government meddling! Millions of Americans have health care insurance provided by their employers and we all see wonderful, diligent, smart doctors that give us the best care IN THE WORLD! Now we have a President who is taking us down the road of servitude (socialism) and politicians so craven and mealy mouthed that they grovel in front of the "anointed one" instead of defending our liberties! Which is why we vote in the first place! The depression of the early 1900's will be peanuts compared to what's coming.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced today he is including in the Senate's health care bill a government-run health insurance plan, or "public option," from which states could opt out.

"I think it's the fairest way to go," Reid said in a press conference. "A public option can achieve the goal of bringing meaningful reform to our broken system."

Reid is submitting to the Congressional Budget Office a number of different variations on health care legislation that bring together different elements of the Senate Finance Committee's health care bill and the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee's bill. Whichever version is chosen, however, will have the public option, Reid said.

As to whether a bill with a public option could win the 60 votes necessary to overcome a Republican filibuster, Reid said that as soon as the CBO provides a cost estimate, "we clearly will have the support of my caucus to move this bill and start legislating."

Does Government Have The Authority To This Unprecedented Meddling In Our Lives?

It is time for all Americans to look in the mirror and decide the following:

Do you agree with our Founding Fathers' vision for our country and if you do, are you willing to uphold and defend our Constitution?!

If you agree that what Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison and the rest did and what they gave their lives and fortune to accomplish is worth defending and fighting for then it's time to stand up and be counted. Our country is being hijacked by the opposite of freedom and individualism - it is being hijacked by tyranny and socialism. "These are the times that try men's souls". It's time to stand up and be counted. Let us not allow the hand of force and tyranny to destroy the only place on this earth where people can live THEIR own lives the way they see fit.
READ "American Way" by Walter Williams.

...At the heart of the American idea is the deep distrust and suspicion the founders of our nation had for government, distrust and suspicion not shared as much by today’s Americans. Some of the founders’ distrust is seen in our Constitution’s language such as Congress shall not: abridge, infringe, deny, disparage, violate and deny. If the founders did not believe Congress would abuse our God-given rights, they would not have provided those protections...

...The three branches of our federal government are no longer bound by the Constitution as the framers envisioned and what is worse is American ignorance and acceptance of such rogue behavior. Look at the current debate over government involvement in health, business bailouts and stimulus packages. The debate centers around questions as whether such involvement is a good idea or a bad idea and whether one program is more costly than another. Those questions are entirely irrelevant to what should be debated, namely: Is such government involvement in our lives permissible under the U.S. Constitution?

Copenhagen Conference on Climate Change: Their True Purpose

"Even with their participation, Copenhagen should have been a non-starter for the U.S. Indeed, the main reason for the greenhouse gas deal, all but admitted to by its major participants, is to cripple the U.S. economy — the most successful economy in the world." (IBD)
We should all pay attention to Copenhagen where the conference on "climate change" will take place. China and India have stated that they WILL NOT reduce "greenhouse gases" and cripple their growth. The article at Investor's Business Daily writes that:

...With less than two months to go before the big Copenhagen Conference on global warming, two major nations have said "no thanks" to the no-growth agenda. For that reason alone, so should we.

Following a deal signed late Thursday between China and India, anything we might agree to do in Copenhagen is likely moot anyway. The two mega-nations — which together account for nearly a third of the world's population — said they won't go along with a new climate treaty being drafted in Copenhagen to replace the Kyoto Protocol that expires in 2012.

They're basically saying no to anything that forces them to impose mandatory limits on their output of greenhouse gas emissions. Other developing nations, including Mexico, Brazil and South Africa, will likely reject any proposals as well.

The deal was already in trouble. Three weeks ago, the Group of 77 developing nations met in Thailand to discuss what they wanted to do about global warming. Their answer: nothing.
William Hawkins, writing in the American Thinker, quotes a piece in China's Science Times journal that sums up how China — and other developing nations — feel:

"Why do the developed countries put an arguable scientific problem on the international negotiations table?" the article's author, Wang Jin, asks. "The real intention is not for the global temperature increase, but for the restriction of the economic development of the developing countries."

They see clearly what the rest of us seem to miss — that, for all its bad science, the Copenhagen Conference is about the world's Lilliputians tying down its Gullivers, not about global warming at all. READ at IBD

Emanuel Threatens The Leftist TV News Media?

Did Rahm Emanuel the White House Chief of Staff just warn the other news organizations not to follow Fox News' example? Was that a threat I detected in his voice? If the news media fails to do its job which is acting as the nation's watch dog (the fourth rail) then it's all over. We might as well submit to Mao's teachings and become communists.

We Need a Great Leader to Lead Against the Greatest Assault on our Constitution Ever

With Republicans like McCain, Snow and now Lindsey Graham who needs the Republicans? Mr. Graham is now moving ever more left as he kow tows to "The Anointed" and Pelosi. What we need is a Founding Fathers Party - and we all need to read the Constitution! Un-American activities are happening before our eyes and the only watchdog we have is Glen Beck and the rest of the Fox News folks. But our scrappy revolutionaries of 1776 won against great odds - but then they did that because of their great leader - George Washington. We need a great man now to lead us out of this mistake of gigantic proportions that we've committed this country to with the election of a rabid socialist.

Politics: Move over, John McCain and Olympia Snowe. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina is fast becoming the Democrats' favorite Republican as he partners with John Kerry to push cap-and-trade through the Senate.

Earlier this year, eight Republican congressmen made it possible for Waxman-Markey, the 1,400-page job- and economy-killing cap-and-trade legislation, to barely pass the House of Representatives. At the time it seemed dead on arrival in the Senate if it was brought up there this year.

Once again, as with their medical plan, the Democrats seek to better the odds by putting a GOP hood ornament on a Democratic clunker. On cap-and-trade, Olympia Snowe's role will be played by Graham as he partners with Kerry to commit the U.S. to the flawed science and disastrous economics of climate change. READ AT IBD

Tired Of Obama Politics - SCIENCE Makes Me Happy

A person can get sick of monitoring and covering the attacks by this administration against our liberties. It's a depressing business especially when there is no end in sight. So I thought I'd present science - while we still have science in this country. In today's Wall Street Journal there's an article by Michael Totty called "Five Technologies That Could Everything". Here is the first one - Space Based Solar Power - awesome!!!

For more than three decades, visionaries have imagined tapping solar power where the sun always shines—in space. If we could place giant solar panels in orbit around the Earth, and beam even a fraction of the available energy back to Earth, they could deliver nonstop electricity to any place on the planet.

Sunlight is reflected off giant orbiting mirrors to an array of photovoltaic cells; the light is converted to electricity and then changed into microwaves, which are beamed to earth. Ground-based antennas capture the microwave energy and convert it back to electricity, which is sent to the grid.

The technology may sound like science fiction, but it's simple: Solar panels in orbit about 22,000 miles up beam energy in the form of microwaves to earth, where it's turned into electricity and plugged into the grid. (The low-powered beams are considered safe.) A ground receiving station a mile in diameter could deliver about 1,000 megawatts—enough to power on average about 1,000 U.S. homes.

The cost of sending solar collectors into space is the biggest obstacle, so it's necessary to design a system lightweight enough to require only a few launches. A handful of countries and companies aim to deliver space-based power as early as a decade from now. READ HERE.

The Sacred Idea Of Liberty - Are We Willing to Fight For It?

Over at PJTV Yaron Brook (Ayn Rand Institute) and Terry Jones (Investors.com) discuss the behemoth Health Care Bill that our "patriots" over in Washington are trying to foist on us. Our government is setting up this bill to fail by allowing private insurance companies to operate alongside the government single payer option. As Mr. Brook points out that in 5 years when the private insurers can't compete with the government they will say "you see it failed" we have to have to go to a one payer system. Taxes will go sky high and we'll have Canadian style socialized Health Care as the leftists wanted. It's all a game the leftists are playing to turn us to socialism in every aspect of our lives (Cap and Trade is another means of controlling the way we live).

Socialism is GOVERNMENT Control of the means of production. We are Americans and we fought the mighty empire of Britain to wrest control for our own destiny. Will we now turn away like cowards and allow this desecration of what our Founding Fathers fought for and were willing to die for? This sacred and rare idea of liberty - are we willing to give it up and for what? For leftists who are after power and control. The greatest idea ever conceived - Liberty from the tyranny of government vs the mealy mouthed, wormy idea of centralized control over a people.

Defending Individual Liberty and Adhering to The Constitution - What An Idea!

For far too long, the Republican Party has been controlled by the "neoconservatives," those who readily abandon the free market at the drop of a hat if it means expanding government power and who think the United States should be the policeman of the world. They want us to support those who throw substance and principle to the wind in favor of political expediency.

Last Monday night, Senator Lindsey Graham reiterated his disdain for Ron Paul and limited government conservatives at a town hall when he said that he was not going to allow the Republican Party to be "hijacked by Ron Paul."

Instead, he thinks we should get behind those who he tells us "can win," even if it means abandoning every belief we hold dear in the process. Campaign for Liberty

Al Gore Won't Answer Questions -

Unbelievable! This Irish environmental journalist asks Al Gore, the environmentalist guru of doom and gloom about the 9 errors that were found in his famous documentary and which is being shown to school children...and his mike gets cut off!!!! So Al Gore brooks no questions about his so called global warming thesis! Oh sorry it's called now global change because the earth has been in a cooling period, in fact, for the last decade. Tyrants Are Always For Social Justice, Never For The Individual

Tyrants of the past and the present are never FOR the individual. The individual is nothing but a cog in the giant machine of "The People". No, tyrants area always for social justice - that ephemeral idea that can be anything to anyone, depends on his goals. The bigger the tyrant the more people are killed to fill his vision of social justice. We have the history of tyrants throughout the ages...the earlier ones like Genghis Khan knew nothing else - that's how the world in general operated. But today's tyrants have the example of the founding of the United States - let's brush up on it because the United States is not guaranteed the individualist creed that each of us has a right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". Each generation must earn its freedom and must defend it and fight for it if needed. For now we can fight for our freedom by standing up to Washington thuggery and to an overbearing executive branch with wimpy condescending senators and representatives. America's ideals are worth fighting for. Walter Williams at CapMag.com explains it for us.

Today's leftists, socialists and progressives would bristle at the suggestion that their agenda differs little from Nazism. However, there's little or no distinction between Nazism and socialism. Even the word Nazi is short for National Socialist German Workers Party. The origins of the unspeakable horrors of Nazism, Stalinism and Maoism did not begin in the '20s, '30s and '40s. Those horrors were simply the end result of long evolution of ideas leading to consolidation of power in central government in the quest for "social justice." It was decent but misguided earlier generations of Germans, like many of today's Americans, who would have cringed at the thought of genocide, who built the Trojan horse for Hitler to take over.

Few Americans have the stomach or ruthlessness to do what is necessary to make their governmental wishes come true. They are willing to abandon constitutional principles and rule of law so that the nation's elite, who believe they are morally and intellectually superior to the rest of us, can have the tools to implement "social justice." Those tools are massive centralized government power. It just turns out last century's notables in acquiring powerful central government, in the name of social justice, were Hitler, Stalin, Mao, but the struggle for social justice isn't over yet, and other suitors of this dubious distinction are waiting in the wings.

Oil, Gas, Coal Everywhere Around the World

...Researchers from the U.S. Geological Survey concluded earlier this year that there are massive amounts of oil and natural gas in the Chukchi Sea off Alaska's coast. They estimated that there could be as much as 157 billion barrels of oil in the Arctic, or nearly twice as much oil as was previously known to exist in that part of the world. The natural gas discovery is also greater than all of the previously known reserves in the Arctic.

Last year the USGS had to increase its estimate of oil reserves in the Bakken formation in North Dakota and Montana by 2,500%. The area is now estimated to hold more than 4 billion barrels of oil.

In Israel, experts underestimated the size of a huge natural gas discovery made in January of this year. The field is actually 16% larger than what had been estimated. Experts now claim Israel can supply itself with enough natural gas for two decades and could be an energy exporter.

In the United States, we have a 100-year supply of natural gas. Last year geologists discovered that gas reserves in the Marcellus Shale formation in Appalachia are actually 250 times larger than they estimated in 2002.

And recently, in the Gulf of Mexico, BP announced they had made a huge new discovery of oil, estimated to be as large as the biggest oil-producing spots in the Gulf, which means it could supply as much as 300,000 barrels of oil per day.

All told, there have been more than 200 new oil discoveries around the world this year alone. What these discoveries mean is our energy future does not have to be dictated by OPEC or energy taxes on American businesses. It is possible to have abundant and reliable sources of low-cost energy...READ AT IBD

The Right to Immigrate Knows NO Boundaries

Do you ever wish you understood the question of immigration better? Do you want to understand why it is the right of all law-abiding people to immigrate to the United States and why it is the right of all American employers to be allowed to employ an immigrant if they so desire? Do you feel conflicted about the right to immigrate to this great country regardless of your wealth and education versus the need to screen out criminals and how we can do this? The article Immigration and Individualism by Craig Biddle at The Objective Standard lays down the philosophical ground for why open immigration is moral and of benefit to America.

...Foreigners have a right to move to America, and Americans have a right to hire, contract, and associate with them by mutual consent. A government that prohibits or limits immigration thereby initiates force against would-be immigrants—and against those Americans who want to associate with them—and thus violates the rights of both parties. The principle of individual rights forbids this prohibition and mandates open immigration.

Individuals possess rights not by virtue of their geographic location or national origin or genetic lineage, but by nature of the fact that in order to live they must be free to act on their basic means of living: their judgment. This principle, in conjunction with the fact that rights can be violated only by means of physical force, gives rise to the need for a government—an institution with a monopoly on the use of physical force in a given geographic area—the proper purpose of which is to protect individual rights. A government serves this function by banning the use of physical force from social relations—and by using retaliatory force as necessary against those who initiate (or threaten to initiate) force. But a government has a moral right to use force only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use; it has no moral right to initiate force against anyone—citizen or non-citizen, within or without its border—for any reason.

America's border is not properly a barrier for the purpose of keeping foreigners out; it is properly a boundary designating the area in which the U.S. government must protect rights. Rights-respecting foreigners who want to cross that boundary in order to enjoy the relative freedom and abundant opportunity in America have a moral right to do so. Likewise, American citizens who want to associate with foreigners in rights-respecting ways—whether through friendship, romance, recreation, or commerce—have a moral right to do so. And Americans who do not want to associate with foreigners have a moral right not to associate with them. But no one—including the government—has a moral right to prevent anyone from acting on his judgment

To prohibit a person from immigrating to the U.S. is to violate his right to act on his judgment; it is to retard his ability to live a life proper to man; it is to commit a moral crime. (READ AT CAPMAG)

Of "Social Justice" and Obama's "Friends"

Some thoughts worthy of study from Thomas Sowell.

Oliver Wendell Holmes said, "Think things, not words." In words, many see a need for "social justice" to override "the dictates of the market." In reality, what is called "the market" consists of human beings making their own choices at their own cost. What is called "social justice" is government imposition of the notions of third parties, who pay no price for being wrong.

Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Moammar Gadhafi and Vladimir Putin have all praised Barack Obama. When enemies of freedom and democracy praise your president, what are you to think? When you add to this Barack Obama's many previous years of associations and alliances with people who hate America — Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Father Pfleger, etc. — at what point do you stop denying the obvious and start to connect the dots? Social Justice - Just Another Name for Nazism, Stalinism and Maoism

Read your history! Those ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it - and it seems we Americans are doomed already. With a President with bonafide love for socialism are we walking towards Nazism? Walter Williams reminds us of just the history of the 20th century and all the death Nazis, Maoists and Stalinist caused in less than 70 years! The only way to ward off this evil is to protect our Constitution and freedom from BIG GOVERNMENT which is encroaching on every aspect of our lives.

The most authoritative tally of history's most murderous regimes is in a book by University of Hawaii's Professor Rudolph J. Rummel, "Death by Government." Statistics are provided at his website. The Nazis murdered 20 million of their own people and those in nations they captured. Between 1917 and 1987, Stalin and his successors murdered, or were otherwise responsible for the deaths of, 62 million of their own people. Between 1949 and 1987, Mao Tsetung and his successors were responsible for the deaths of 76 million Chinese.

It just turns out last century's notables in acquiring powerful central government, in the name of social justice, were Hitler, Stalin, Mao, but the struggle for social justice isn't over yet, and other suitors of this dubious distinction are waiting in the wings.

The Health Care Bill - Why Won't They Let Us Read It?

Congresses disapproval rating is at an all time high of 72%. Why can't we read that dastardly Health bill? What have they got to hide? Why are we putting up with these shady shenanigans going on in Washington? IBD has a good article about the 1000 page behemoth of a bill which none of us has read...Why is it so big? To confuse us as well?

Congress: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have been asked repeatedly to put the proposed health care bill on the Web. They've refused. Do they have something to hide?

Even Democrats have asked their leadership to put the bill online at least 72 hours before a vote, so that any American can read the 1,000-plus-page monstrosity.

"At a time when trust in Congress and the U.S. government is unprecedentedly low," a group of Democratic senators recently wrote to Reid, "we can begin to rebuild the American people's faith in their federal government through transparency and by actively inviting Americans to participate in the legislative process."

We agree. In the same spirit, at least one group, Let Freedom Ring USA, has posted an online petition calling for Congress to mandate that any bill be posted online at least 72 hours before it's voted on. If Democrats are serious, they might look into that.

Of course, Reid and Pelosi know very well that putting the bill online would jeopardize its passage. Anyone who actually reads it will discover what it contains, and what the media have largely ignored — new taxes, fewer health care choices, the destruction of a successful industry and the creation of a massive new bureaucracy.

All at a cost of more than $1 trillion over the next decade.

But what else can you expect from a Congress that is arguably one of the worst in the nation's history? In power since 2006, this Democrat-led bunch has stood by as a financial meltdown led to a deep recession. Given the chance to reform our nation's financial system, they punted — instead spending trillions on bailouts, handouts, welfare and a phony "stimulus" that have done little for the economy. I Pledge Allegiance to America's Debt

The Pledge Of Allegiance

I pledge allegiance to America's debt
and to the Chinese government that lends us money
and to the interest for which we pay,
Compoundable with higher taxes and lower pay
until the day we die.

Capitalism Is A Love Story - It Keeps on Giving

Walter Williams reminds us Capitalism is so far the only economic system devised by man that has brought more wealth to more people and countries that have chosen to practice its' major precept: Private ownership and control over the means of production. Moore is either dumb or he plays dumb. There's no way you can't know this fact about capitalism.

...Capitalism is an economic system characterized by private ownership and control over the means of production. The distribution of goods and services and their prices are mainly determined by competition in a free market. Under such a system the primary job of government is to protect private property, enforce contracts and ensure rule of law.

...If one ranked countries according to whether they were closer to the capitalistic end of the spectrum or the socialistic or communistic end, then ranked countries according to per capita GDP and finally rank countries according to Freedom House's "Map of Freedom in the World," he would find a pattern that is by no means a coincidence. The people in those countries closer to the capitalist end of the economic spectrum have far greater income and enjoy greater human rights protections than those toward the socialist and communist end.

...Most of our country's serious problems can be laid at the feet of Congress and the White House and not at capitalism. Take the financial crisis. One-third of the $15 trillion of mortgages in existence in 2008 are owned, or securitized by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, the Federal Housing and the Veterans Administration. Banks didn't mind making risky loans and Wall Street buyers didn't mind buying these repackaged loans because they assumed that they would be guaranteed by the federal government: read bailout by taxpayers. Under a capitalist system, financial institutions would not have been intimidated or encouraged into making risky loans and neither would they have been bailed out if they did so. READ at CAPMAG.com

Obama's Love For Incompetent Psychopaths

All the world's merry-go-round of dictators are dizzy with love for the Leader of the Free World. How can they not be beaming with radiant joy that finally they have an American President that understands their "raison d'etre" (reason for being).

Henninger at WSJ asks why aren't we supporting the groups seeking freedom and names all the "incompetent psychopaths - heads of state that Obama has shaken hands with. Here are the thugs whose hands Obama thought it very important to shake in countries he has either traveled to or met at the UN last month: Iran, Burma, Venezuela, Morales (Bolivia), Ortega (Nicaragua), Raul Castro (Cuba), Special envoy (Sudan and Syria), and Russia. It must be most disheartening for the supporters of freedom in each of these countries that our President did not even deign to meet with them as of yet. Why? is the only question one has to ask. Why indeed...

The Hypocrisy Of It All - Our Schools

Walter Williams explains (Obama's Betrayal of Education at Capmag) how what's good for the goose is not good for the gander. While politicians send their children to our disgraceful public schools the rest of Americans have to send their children to our "public schools" and watch anxiously as their brains rot in those classrooms designed to hold back the intellectual development of our kids. One would almost think that the progressives devised these schools on purpose so make malleable citizens who would not question any policy perverted or otherwise.

Instead of President Obama addressing school students across the nation, he might have accomplished more by focusing his attention on the educational rot in schools in the nation's capital.

…The staunchest opponents of school choice are hypocrites. They want, demand and can afford school choice for themselves but for others not so affluent school choice it is a different matter. President and Mrs. Barack Obama enrolled their two daughters in Washington's most prestigious Sidwell Friends School, forking over $28,000 a year for each girl. Whilst senator from Illinois, the Obama's enrolled their girls in the University of Chicago's Laboratory School, a private school in Chicago charging almost $20,000 for each girl. A Heritage Foundation survey found that 37 percent of the members of the House of Representatives and 45 percent of senators in the 110th Congress sent their children to private schools. Public school teachers enroll their own children in nonpublic schools to a much greater extent than the general public, in some cases four and five times greater.

In Cincinnati, about 41 percent of public school teachers send their children to nonpublic schools. In Chicago it is 38 percent, Los Angeles 24 percent, New York 32 percent, and Philadelphia 44 percent. …

For people in power to tolerate the Washington, D.C. school system is despicable. For a black president to do so might qualify as betrayal. READ at CapMag

America is Now A Country Without A Free Press

The Acorn Non-Reporting Scandal and Hannibal at Cannae - what do they have in common?
Watch this video by the brilliant Bill Whittle at PJTV talk about the Acorn criminal activity uncovered by our free press? CNN? ABC? NBC? CNBC? Nope - by some free lancers wanting to investigate ACORN and very young free lancers at that. And who reported on this investigation uncovering the illegal activities of Acorn? ONLY Fox News! The only network that report this! Got that?
