A Policy Sure to Impoverish Us All - Obama Hates Oil/America

Why does Obama hate oil so much? Why Why Why? Could it be that oil and all the products that are derived from it represents American freedom to travel and ingenuity? Could it be that Obama resents American freedom and ingenuity...our can do spirit? What else can one make of this administration's utter disregard for the fact that America needs oil to function and that we have abundant oil and that we need to drill for it. Ask yourself what it accomplishes. Only one thing - to make us impoverished and to force us to downscale our lives as a consequence.

The day before President Obama was inaugurated, the average price of a gallon of gas was $1.83, the Heritage Foundation notes. Today it's well over $3 and on the way to $4. Prices for this February and last December were the highest ever for those months.

While we sit on abundant oil and natural gas reserves, prices at both the wellhead and the pump are rising on fears of spreading Mideast turmoil and short domestic supply. But then, maybe that's the plan.

The silver lining for this administration in the gathering storm over the Middle East may be what it's doing and may yet do to energy prices. The average price for gasoline jumped nearly 12 cents a gallon last week to $3.287, according to AAA. But at the White House, that's not necessarily bad news.

...The administration's hostility to fossil fuels is documented. Immediately on taking office, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar canceled 77 leases for oil and gas drilling in Utah. Recently, in a stunning land grab, Salazar issued an order allowing Bureau of Land Management officials to place land with "wilderness characteristics" off-limits to energy development. Some 6 million acres in energy-rich Utah would be affected...

...John Hofmeister, former president of Shell Oil, told Platt's Energy Week Television that Americans could be paying $5 for a gallon of gasoline by 2012 based on the uncertainty of world events, the lack of domestic supply and increased worldwide demand fueled by countries like India and China.

Democrats once accused Big Oil of deliberately restricting supply to enrich itself. Now the Obama administration may be doing the same on purpose — a policy sure to impoverish us all. READ "Does Obama Want $8 Gallon Gasoline?

President Obama Are You A Wanna Be Dictator?

What better evidence than who Obama chooses to defend in Honduras. He presumes to want to uphold the rule of law but excuse me - defending a thug dictator like Zelaya and rushing to consult with Chavez a man who stole the elections in Venezuela? In his heart of heart all of his actions show that our President is far left of center. He swoons before dictators and other leftist thugs. Read O'Grady's column at WSJ.

When Hugo Chávez makes a personal appeal to Washington for help, as he did 11 days ago, it raises serious questions about the signals that President Barack Obama is sending to the hemisphere's most dangerous dictator.

Ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya (left) with Costa Rican President Oscar Arias.
At issue is Mr. Chávez's determination to restore deposed Honduran president Manuel Zelaya to power through multilateral pressure. His phone call to a State Department official showed that his campaign was not going well and that he thought he could get U.S. help.

This is not good news for the region. The Venezuelan may feel that his aims have enough support from the U.S. and the Organization of American States (OAS) that he would be justified in forcing Mr. Zelaya on Honduras by supporting a violent overthrow of the current government. That he has reason to harbor such a view is yet another sign that the Obama administration is on the wrong side of history.

In the three weeks since the Honduran Congress moved to defend the country's constitution by relieving Mr. Zelaya of his presidential duties, it has become clear that his arrest was both lawful and a necessary precaution against violence.

Mr. Zelaya was trying to use mob rule to undermine Honduras's institutions in much the same way that Mr. Chávez has done in Venezuela. But as Washington lawyer Miguel Estrada pointed out in the Los Angeles Times on July 10, Mr. Zelaya's actions were expressly forbidden by the Honduran constitution.

Government Run Health Care - Surely, You're Joking Mr. Obama

If anyone knows of any country that has instituted a National Health care plan which has worked - that is doctors can make a deserved good living and patients get the products they want in order to take care of their health then please email me...I would love to see a positive in this Obama Care baloney that he's foisting on us. Not only will we get BAD government care but we'll be paying through the teeth for it to boot. Now if that's not a toxic combination calling for a revolt I don't know what is! And talk about a power grab - this would be the biggest intervention of the government into private affairs EVER! Please show me where in the constitution it says that the President's role is to inflict himself between the doctor and the patient?

Paying For Reform: New data from a nonpartisan think tank confirm our worst fears about health care reform: The plans proposed by the White House and Congress will lead to economically ruinous tax hikes.

...Likely missing from their pitch will be the tragic cost it will mean for the economy once the huge new tax hikes to pay for it are in place. The House bill, for instance, is estimated to cost $1 trillion to $1.5 trillion over 10 years. To pay for it, the White House has proposed raising taxes by $544 billion, almost all on the "rich" — those in the top 5% of incomes.

That leaves a $1 trillion gap. Where will the rest of the money come from? The government claims it will be able to "save" that amount. But please name any government program that saves money over a private one. The only way government will save money is to ration care — that is, give you less medical care at lower quality. Is that your idea of reform?

...These new taxes will have a devastating effect on the economy. According to the National Tax Foundation, the top total tax rate on Americans — that is, state, local and federal taxes — will top 50% in 39 states.

Will entrepreneurs and small businesses expand and create new jobs if they know more than half what they earn will be taken by government? Not likely.
Two million jobs have been lost this year. If you think that, and 9.5% unemployment, is bad, wait till health reform passes.

Our Politicians and President Are Tying Up Our hands

If we're honest with ourselves the future of America is in jeopardy what with this insane spending, high taxes looming in the near future and a President that won't stand up for freedom in any of it's forms be they individual freedom for citizens to live their own lives without interference from dumb politicians or the freedom demands of other nations such as Iran and Honduras, or freedom of business owners to run their own businesses as they see fit. Read this IBD article below.

...In other words, all this spending and taxing will crater the economy — and the estimate doesn't include the spending planned for medical insurance reform and cap and trade.

Nor does it include the dizzying array of new taxes the White House and Congress are considering. They range from a European-style value-added tax, which helped turn the EU into a stagnant mess with virtually no job creation, to new taxes on health care, energy, incomes and a slew of other things.

In the coming weeks, we will tell you how we got into this mess — hint: Government played a key role — and how we can get out of it. It will take huge cuts in spending, a willingness to let bad businesses go bust, and broad tax cuts to get our economy moving again.

This, by the way, worked in the 1920s, it worked in the 1960s, it worked in the 1980s. It even worked after 9/11, and it'll work again.

America needs jobs, but its businesses can't create them as long as they remain under the thumb of a high-taxing, runaway-spending, overregulating, entrepreneur-smothering Big Government. (READ AT IBD).
