Government Run Healthcare WILL BE Government Run Care

The truth about government run healthcare should be of interest to all of us since we will be footing the bill for this boondoggle.

Friday, June 26, 2009

"The inconvenient truth is that the earth's temperatures have flat-lined since 2001, despite growing concentrations of C02."

Wondering why Obama and Pelosi want to ram this cap-and-trade bill through congress without a proper debate? The world is turning against this farce from scientists, to Australians to Vaclav Klaus of the Czech Republic. THERE JUST IS NO EVIDENCE FOR Gore's mantra of man made global warming!!!!!! It's all about power and money - plain and simple. I just hope we the people are not simple minded - write to your reps and demand a NO vote on this hideous obscenity of a bill.

...Among the many reasons President Barack Obama and the Democratic majority are so intent on quickly jamming a cap-and-trade system through Congress is because the global warming tide is again shifting. It turns out Al Gore and the United Nations (with an assist from the media), did a little too vociferous a job smearing anyone who disagreed with them as "deniers." The backlash has brought the scientific debate roaring back to life in Australia, Europe, Japan and even, if less reported, the U.S.

In April, the Polish Academy of Sciences published a document challenging man-made global warming. In the Czech Republic, where President Vaclav Klaus remains a leading skeptic, today only 11% of the population believes humans play a role. In France, President Nicolas Sarkozy wants to tap Claude Allegre to lead the country's new ministry of industry and innovation. Twenty years ago Mr. Allegre was among the first to trill about man-made global warming, but the geochemist has since recanted. New Zealand last year elected a new government, which immediately suspended the country's weeks-old cap-and-trade program.

The number of skeptics, far from shrinking, is swelling. Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe now counts more than 700 scientists who disagree with the U.N. -- 13 times the number who authored the U.N.'s 2007 climate summary for policymakers. Joanne Simpson, the world's first woman to receive a Ph.D. in meteorology, expressed relief upon her retirement last year that she was finally free to speak "frankly" of her nonbelief. Dr. Kiminori Itoh, a Japanese environmental physical chemist who contributed to a U.N. climate report, dubs man-made warming "the worst scientific scandal in history." Norway's Ivar Giaever, Nobel Prize winner for physics, decries it as the "new religion." A group of 54 noted physicists, led by Princeton's Will Happer, is demanding the American Physical Society revise its position that the science is settled. (Both Nature and Science magazines have refused to run the physicists' open letter.) Read the whole article at WSJ.

The Dems Know That Cap-and-Trade Is A Massive Tax Increase On Us

...And yet they will try to pass this unlawful, anti-American, liberal tax on us. It is a shame that we will let them. Read this article "The Cap and Tax Fiction" at the Wall Street Journal.

Even as Democrats have promised that this cap-and-trade legislation won't pinch wallets, behind the scenes they've acknowledged the energy price tsunami that is coming. During the brief few days in which the bill was debated in the House Energy Committee, Republicans offered three amendments: one to suspend the program if gas hit $5 a gallon; one to suspend the program if electricity prices rose 10% over 2009; and one to suspend the program if unemployment rates hit 15%. Democrats defeated all of them.

The reality is that cost estimates for climate legislation are as unreliable as the models predicting climate change. What comes out of the computer is a function of what politicians type in. A better indicator might be what other countries are already experiencing. Britain's Taxpayer Alliance estimates the average family there is paying nearly $1,300 a year in green taxes for carbon-cutting programs in effect only a few years.

Americans should know that those Members who vote for this climate bill are voting for what is likely to be the biggest tax in American history. Even Democrats can't repeal that reality.

Our Idiotic Politicians Taking Us To the Poor House

You know and I know that Cap and Trade to control the emission of the inocuous gas CO2 will make us all poorer. Add this administrations takeover of our Health Care and you have the biggest and most brazen power grab in the history of the United States. The fools in Washington are so enamored of this President that they will vote for it in order to kow tow to the annointed one. Green House gas causing climate change is a fiction and most people realize this. Why don't our politicians? This is about power over the American people....nothing more. Read the following at Investor's Business Daily.

The House of Representatives is preparing to vote on an anti-stimulus package that in the name of saving the earth will destroy the American economy. Smoot-Hawley will seem like a speed bump.

Not since a misguided piece of legislation imposed tariffs that turned a recession into a depression has there been a piece of legislation as bad as Waxman-Markey.

The 1,000-plus-page American Clean Energy and Security Act (H.R. 2454) is being rushed to a vote by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi before anyone can seriously object to this economic suicide pact.

It's what Janet Napolitano, secretary of Homeland Security, might call a "man-caused disaster," a phrase she coined to replace the politically incorrect "terrorist attack." But no terrorist could ever dream of inflicting as much damage as this bill.

It's centerpiece is a "cap and trade" provision that has been rightfully derided as "cap and tax." It is in fact a tax on energy everywhere it is consumed on everything it is used to make or provide.

It is the largest tax increase in American history — a tax on all Americans — even the 95% that President Obama pledged would never see a tax increase.

It's a political bill that could come to a vote now that a deal was struck with farm-state legislators concerned about the taxation of even bovine flatulence.

...President Obama has called on the U.S. to "lead by example" on global warming. During the campaign, he said: "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times . . . and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK."

Soon we may not be able to. Other countries can just sit back and watch us destroy ourselves. Where will you be when the lights go out?
(Read at Investor's Business Daily)

With Or Without Consent of the American People

Obama will try to pass his Health Care reform with or without the consent of the People. He is setting the country up for unimaginable consequences because of his race to turn us away from freedom. Now he is using the news industry as a front for shilling his schemes of centralized government control of our health - and ABC news is letting themselves be used. People it's time to rise up or you will wake up to a fascist state. Edward Cline does a good job of reporting on this urgent anti-American situation.

The Drudge Report was the first to announce the latest step in the fascist/socialist march to dictatorship in the United States. To guarantee that there is no “debate” on the government’s plan to impose mandatory health care “reform” on the nation, President Barack Obama has made a deal with ABC News to conduct a phony prime time “town hall” style meeting from the Blue Room of the White House on June 24. The sanctimonious and overly chummy anchor Charles Gibson will host “World News” from that precious vantage point. He will welcome the nation to the to the first airing of the Obama Broadcasting Corporation.

Not even FDR was brazen enough to co-opt a broadcaster to shill for the New Deal.

No one in the Reichstag -- excuse me, in Congress -- is protesting this blatantly bogus “reality show” except in the most wimpish manner. Republican National Committee chief of staff Ken McKay, according to Drudge, “fired off a complaint to the head of ABC News.” The text of his letter is really just a complaint that the Republicans have not been invited to participate in the “debate.”

“Today, the RNC requested an opportunity to add our Party’s views to those of the President’s to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected.”

Drudge reported that ABC News Senior Vice President Kerry Smith replied to the RNC, claiming it contained “false premises.”

“ABC News prides itself on covering all sides of important issues and asking direct questions of all newsmakers..." (READ HERE)

Asians Are Too Dull - They Study and Study

At Investment Business Daily I read the most remarkable article regarding California's College admittance. Well diversity alone is not good enough for some liberal education specialists. Seems like since California's Proposition 209 in 1996 outlawed racial discrimination in college admissions - guess which racial group gets admitted at the highest rate by some 38 to 55% even though they compose only 13% of the state's population? Asians. And guess what Asians do more than whites, Latinos and blacks? THEY STUDY hard!

Well according to a high ranking University of California administrator this is too boring. So, now they want to lower Asian enrollment by backhanded means...anything to get more Latinos and blacks who DO NOT study as hard (if at all) into colleges. What blatant racism! College is for people who take their education seriously not for the dullards regardless of what color their skin is. Asians should fight back - I know I'll back you...

...When there are policies that emphasize and reward academic achievement, Asians excel. College officials and others who are proponents of "diversity" and equal representation find that outcome offensive.

To deal with the Asian "menace," the UC regents have proposed, starting in 2010, that no longer will the top 12.5% of students based on statewide performance be automatically admitted. Students won't have to take SAT subject matter tests. Grades and test scores will no longer weigh so heavily in admission decisions.

This is simply gross racial discrimination against those "dull" Asian students who "study, study, study" in favor of "interesting" black, white and Hispanic students who don't "study, study, study."

This is truly evil and would be readily condemned as such if applied to other areas lacking in diversity.

With blacks making up about 80% of professional basketball players, there is little or no diversity in professional basketball. Even at college-level basketball, it's not unusual to watch two teams playing and there not being a single white player on the court, much less a Chinese or Japanese player.

I can think of several rule changes that might increase racial diversity in professional and college basketball. How about eliminating slam dunks and disallowing three-point shots? Restrict dribbling? Lower the basket's height?

These and other rule changes would take away the "unfair" advantage that black players appear to have and create greater basketball diversity.

But wouldn't diversity so achieved be despicable? If you answer yes, why would it be any less so when it's used to fulfill somebody's vision of college diversity? Read here

Iran - "A Tragedy of Bad Ideas and Bad Culture"

The author, Andrew Clavan made an amazing connection between bad ideas and tragedy after watching the movie "The Stoning of Soraya M". Americans should watch this movie to learn the lesson of the consequences of bad ideas because we are headed down the road of serfdom to the state with Obama's government takeover of our health. This is another "tragedy of bad ideas" which will have long term consequences for every American. It is a giant step for state control over our lives. Ideas have consequences - either good consequences or bad ones. It therefore goes without saying that there are good ideas and there are bad ones. Freedom is a good idea...being dependent on the state is a bad idea. State control of our health is a bad idea that will lead to tragedies.

"The Stoning of Soraya M." is based on a book by expatriate Iranian journalist Freidoune Sahebjam which recounts the true story of a woman falsely accused of adultery in the slave state of Iran and after being found guilty was then stoned to death in 1986 in accordance with Shariah law. The bad idea infecting the world today is Multiculturalism and one of the tragedies resulting from this ideology - that all cultures are the same and must be respected - is the way women are treated in the Middle East.

...The tragedy of bad ideas unfolds from a moral flaw in a worldview or philosophy as inevitably as classical tragedy unfolds from a flaw in individual character. Tragedies of bad ideas are the most common, pervasive and destructive man-made mass disasters. Yet our thinking class has become powerless to oppose them or even recognize them for what they are.

The reason is that too many of our intellectuals are themselves ensnared in a bad idea. That idea is multiculturalism -- the notion that no system or government is inherently better than any other, that the rules of morality are just a doctrine written by history's winners. Thus there are no enduring human truths, only "narratives" by which almost any beastliness can be explained away if committed by a people with a claim to having been victimized by a dominant culture.

This bad idea has all but silenced our nation at a moment when the world most needs our voice. Thousands of people in Iran are marching in the streets, protesting a sham election, heroically risking life and limb to try to tear some little breathing space in the smothering shroud of theocracy. Yet President Barack Obama, the leader of the most powerful free nation on earth, responds with mealy-mouthed strategic dithering. The man who in his recent speech in Cairo drew an absurd moral equivalence between Western errors and Islam's unstinting history of oppression has condemned the Iranian government's violent reaction to the demonstrations but remains canny and vague in his support of the protestors.

This is too shrewd by half. There comes a time in the affairs of men when bad ideas can be -- and therefore must be -- powerfully opposed by good ones...(Read the rest here at WSJ).

The Courage and Energy to Protest Tyranny

Rachel Maddox at msnbc did a good job wih her coverage of the Iranian uprising against their claim of rigged voting results. Maybe Americans can take courage from these people and wake up from our lethargy to see that in order for us to recover our freedom we also will have to rise up and demand it. It's a bit over 10 min and well worth your while.

Letter to Tim Phillips, President of Americans For Prosperity

I am interested in your work but don't know what your philosophy is and how you defend American values. The most important thing to defend are the philosophical underpinnings of America as our founding Fathers envisioned them and that is Individual Liberty: the right to Life, liberty and the pursuit of our own individual happiness.

All too common today is the call for sacrifice for the happiness of others. This is not America - America was founded on the freedom that each individual has, being an American, to pursue his own happiness. Agreeing with the government on the basics and only disagreeing on the side issues is NOT a defense of our American way of life.

The proper role of government is to defend us against our enemies and collect just enough taxes to run a small government not this behemoth that we the people have allowed to grow. The government today is involved in EVERY aspect of our lives. We have to ask permission of government officials for practically everything we do.

Is this the America of George Washington? Is this what he fought for and was willing to die for? Is this what Thomas Paine envisioned when he so eloquently declared "Give me Liberty or Give me Death!"

Is this what so many early American ragtag soldiers died for so that we the citizens now cow-tow to government minions who seem to fall over themselves fawning over the current President without so much as raising a peep over his totalitarian urges?

We must fight and defend the Grand Ideas of our country not the minutia - whether it's this type of government control of our healthcare or that type. THEY SHOULD NOT be in the healthcare business - or dictating to our Auto industry or "fixing" our banks - or telling us where to drill and what kind of energy we need or saving some minow fish in the west at the expense of farmers!

Our liberties have been draining away for the past 100 years. Obama is just cashing in on the ignorance and helplessness of Americans today. We don't know our history or understand the philosophy behind the stirring words and deeds of our Forefathers and therefore we cannot defend it properly. It's time and proper that we the people should change this stunning ignorance of what we should be defending.
Sincerely,
Margaret Sanchez

"The Gaping Maw Of Government"

Rob Tracinski over at The Intellectual Activist Daily writes:

Those who accuse the Democrats of a policy of "tax and spend" get it backward. The Democrats never figure out where the money is coming from before they spend it. They always spend it first, point to the resulting fiscal disaster, and then demand higher taxes to pay for the runaway spending.
In fact, the really crushing burden of government spending comes from a program created more than 70 years ago: Social Security. We're still raising taxes to pay for the spending commitments Congress made in 1935.

Here's the latest ominous news: increased chatter about piling a national sales tax on top of all of the existing taxes, as a way of paying for Obama's new socialized medicine scheme. No, I don't think we will see this national sales tax soon. Congress will spend the money first, and only then will they get around to figuring out new ways to tax us for it.

The worst part about a national sales tax, by the way, is not just the fact that it will funnel more private money into the gaping maw of the government. Consider also the sheer economic disruption of creating a totally new kind of tax, which will require individuals and businesses to rethink all of their economic plans. That's enough to create a recession all by itself. (Also read Once Considered Unthinkable, US Sales Tax Gets Fresh Look)

Throw The Bums Out

Sylvia Bokor has an written a very interesting article on how the liberals and conservatives of both the Republican and Democratic party are one and the same. Americans must wake up and realize that we are already a socialist lite country...now with Obama we will become socialist heavy. If we value our liberties and our the American Way of Life let's throw these rotten politicians out of office and vote in only people who hold freedom of the individual as their highest value. Sylvia Bokor titles here article "America At A Crossroads". We certainly are there with this administration. We either choose government control over our lives or freedom. Which shall it be America? We need a George Washington now!

Today's political mix includes liberal and conservative Republicans, and liberal and conservative Democrats. The Republican and Democrat tags no longer accurately identify political doctrine. The designations liberal and conservative have also changed from their original meaning.

Today's liberalism is a perversion of Classical Liberalism, which stressed the essential goodness and rationality of man and his ability to recognize and solve problems, all of which led to systematic improvement in man's life, exemplified by the Enlightenment.

The corruption began in 1848. Karl Marx and Friedich Engels, ignoring the vast improvements the Enlightenment made possible, argued that the state should advance the welfare of individuals. Since the state has no income except by taxing those who produce, those who produce were sentenced to provide for those who did not, violating the rights of producers. The corruption spread in the 1930s when Roosevelt signed into law the minimum wage, progressive taxation, Social Security and established Fannie Mae to provide low-interest mortgages. Classical Liberalism was dead. Liberalism and the welfare state became one: Socialism.

Conservatism originally supported limited government and free enterprise. But it also held that political, social and religious institutions represented ageless wisdom and that the source of individual rights were "gifts from God," not man's nature. Rights, therefore, were considered privileges meted out in obedience to God.

The communist victory in Russia disarmed conservatives. They recognized that their own views did not contradict communism. Politically "You are your brother's keeper" was collectivism. Seeking to disassociate themselves from communism, conservative patriotism devolved into "my country right or wrong." By 2008, John McCain solidified this view explicitly with the campaign slogan "Country First," stressing duty and placing the group above the individual: nationalism...(Read the whole article here).

Dereliction of the White House Press Corp

You've heard Obama constantly intoning the mantra "yes but we've created or saved 150,000 jobs" as the numbers of unemployed swell every month...well there's a very good examination of this phony statement in The Wall Street Journal and how the White House Press Corp in its heated anxiousness to worship at the alter of "the anointed one" has absolutely been derelict in their duty to be the front line of protection between politicians and the people. It's disgusting really...

"Saved or created" has become the signature phrase for Barack Obama as he describes what his stimulus is doing for American jobs. His latest invocation came yesterday, when the president declared that the stimulus had already saved or created at least 150,000 American jobs -- and announced he was ramping up some of the stimulus spending so he could "save or create" an additional 600,000 jobs this summer. These numbers come in the context of an earlier Obama promise that his recovery plan will "save or create three to four million jobs over the next two years."...

"To begin with, the number is pure fiction -- the administration has no way to measure how many jobs are actually being 'saved.' And if we had tried to use something this flimsy, the press would never have let us get away with it."

Of course, the inability to measure Mr. Obama's jobs formula is part of its attraction. Never mind that no one -- not the Labor Department, not the Treasury, not the Bureau of Labor Statistics -- actually measures "jobs saved." As the New York Times delicately reports, Mr. Obama's jobs claims are "based on macroeconomic estimates, not an actual counting of jobs." Nice work if you can get away with it.

And get away with it he has (read at WSJ).

Obama My Shepard

I found this poem by an unknown author -

Obama is the shepherd I did not want.
He leadeth me beside the still factories.
He restoreth my faith in the Republican party.
He guideth me in the path of unemployment for his party's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the bread line, I shall fear no hunger for his bailouts are with me.
He has anointed my income with taxes, My expenses runneth over.
Surely, poverty and hard living will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will live in a mortgaged home forever.
I am glad I am American, I am glad that I am free.

But I wish I was a male dog ...And Obama was a tree.

Presidential Extortion

Steve Stanek at Capitalism Magazine writes about how Obama is throwing out the rule of law in the United States. Remember that it is the job of lenders to extract maximum value for it's shareholder. This has been made impossible by Obama's demand that banks play the tune he calls or else. Is this extortion or not!

Until earlier this month, this was a nation of laws, not of men, a nation where justice was blind, meaning we are all equal under the law.

That changed when President Barack Obama's extortionate threats against the "holdout" Chrysler lenders caused them to accept the government’s 29 cents on the dollar offer for the money Chrysler owes them.

Obama publicly vilified these lenders, who had every legal, contractual, and moral right to hold out for a better return on the money they gave Chrysler. Behind the scenes, administration officials allegedly threatened to destroy the lenders by "unleashing the White House press corps" on them, according to Tom Lauria, an attorney representing the lenders.

If true—and there is little reason to doubt it, given the president's public conduct—the president or his agents should face criminal charges. Nothing in the Constitution authorizes extortion by the president. (READ HERE)

The Tragic Waste of Human Minds In The Middle East

MOHAMMED BIN RASHID AL MAKTOUM has an interesting article at WSJ where he talks about the rising tide of young people under the age of 25 in the Middle East-no wonder there are so many young men willing to take up arms against the evil west when they can't find jobs or feed their families. Their corrupt governments should be forced out and a democratic non-religious government instituted where individual rights are upheld for both men and women.

Arabs appreciate the fact that President Barack Obama has decided to deliver a major speech in an Islamic country (Egypt) about relations between the United States and Muslims, many of whom were alienated by American foreign policy in recent years.
More than half of the 300 million residents of the Middle East are people under 25 years of age. The region has the fastest growing labor force in the world.

With an already high unemployment rate of 15%, the Middle East must create 80 million new jobs in the next five years just to keep apace of our demographics. Unemployment is a problem afflicting all 22 member states of the Arab League, but it is most conspicuously a youth issue. Fifty percent of the jobless are under the age of 25, roughly double the world average. Women have an especially difficult time finding jobs.

These increasingly restive youths are particularly vulnerable to those who would preach radicalism and hostility toward the West, especially the U.S.

Why did Arabs fail to make deep structural reforms in education and in stimulating employment opportunities? The Arab world's track record on education, particularly girls' education, is discouraging. Sixty-five million adult Arabs are illiterate and two-thirds of them are women. More than 10 million Arab children between the ages of 6 and 15 are still not enrolled in any schooling, and on current trends this number will increase by 40% over the next decade. This is a monumental waste of human capacity...(READ)
