Are We Living "Atlas Shrugged" Today?

You all have probably heard that the 50 year old book Atlas Shrugged is selling more books since Obama came to power than ever. In other words sales have spiked. Why? Because people see that their liberties are being thrown out the window. Watch John Stossel as he interviews people who love Atlas Shrugged and those who don't. Whatever side you're on Rand predicted what would happen with a government run amok.

The Nightmare World of The Mind of a Doctor Under Government Run Healthcare.

The paragraph below describes what a nightmare government run health care would be and how a doctor would have to think and juggle all the government mandates which would compete with his oath to do no harm to the patient and at the same time try to cure him of his ailments. This is the road to serfdom for the doctors, tragedy for the patient and government meddling into our most private areas - our health. Do we want this? This was first published in Capitalism Magazine in 1998 during Clinton's attempt at the takeover of the medical profession. This section I've reprinted here was part of Dr. Leonard Peikoff's speech at a Town Hall Meeting on the Clinton Health Plan in Costa Mesa, California. I've separated this paragraph into 3 paragraphs for easier reading.

"In medicine, above all, the mind must be left free. Medical treatment involves countless variables and options that must be taken into account, weighed, and summed up by the doctor's mind and subconscious. Your life depends on the private, inner essence of the doctor's function: it depends on the input that enters his brain, and on the processing such input receives from him. What is being thrust now into the equation? It is not only objective medical facts any longer. Today, in one form or another, the following also has to enter that brain:

'The DRG administrator [in effect, the hospital or HMO man trying to control costs] will raise hell if I operate, but the malpractice attorney will have a field day if I don't -- and my rival down the street, who heads the local PRO [Peer Review Organization], favors a CAT scan in these cases, I can't afford to antagonize him, but the CON boys disagree and they won't authorize a CAT scanner for our hospital -- and besides the FDA prohibits the drug I should be prescribing, even though it is widely used in Europe, and the IRS might not allow the patient a tax deduction for it, anyhow, and I can't get a specialist's advice because the latest Medicare rules prohibit a consultation with this diagnosis, and maybe I shouldn't even take this patient, he's so sick -- after all, some doctors are manipulating their slate of patients, they accept only the healthiest ones, so their average costs are coming in lower than mine, and it looks bad for my staff privileges.'

Would you like your case to be treated this way -- by a doctor who takes into account your objective medical needs and the contradictory, unintelligible demands of some ninety different state and Federal government agencies? If you were a doctor could you comply with all of it? Could you plan or work around or deal with the unknowable? But how could you not? Those agencies are real and they are rapidly gaining total power over you and your mind and your patients. In this kind of nightmare world, if and when it takes hold fully, thought is helpless; no one can decide by rational means what to do. A doctor either obeys the loudest authority -- or he tries to sneak by unnoticed, bootlegging some good health care occasionally or, as so many are doing now, he simply gives up and quits the field.

"As Government Expands, Liberty Contracts" Ronald Reagan

We should all understand one thing - Obama is a progressive (read Jonah Goldberg's 'Liberal Fascism") and these people believe that government solves everything if you throw enough money at it. We the people are too stupid to solve our problems - no the anointed ones have to help us little folks.

... Wednesday night's State of the Union address to Congress may have made history. When have senators and congressmen ever before been unable to keep from laughing at — not with — a president?

At about the 44-minute mark in President Obama's address to Congress came a proposal for a three-year freeze of government spending — but only for one-sixth of the budget, exempting the biggest, fastest-growing expenditures: entitlements like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. And the president noted that "this freeze won't take effect until next year . .. ."

It was there that the laughter began from the Republicans, continuing through "... when the economy is stronger." But the prepared text shows that the president then ad-libbed, "That's how budgeting works," gesturing either condescendingly or accusatorially to the GOP side of the aisle — after which the Democrats started laughing.

As columnist Charles Krauthammer told Fox News' Bill O'Reilly this week, what the president "doesn't tell you is that last year, in their first year in office, when they had a free ride in spending, they ratcheted up the spending for all of these departments astronomically — on average over the last half of fiscal '09 and all of fiscal '10 ... of about 20%."

Annual increases are usually 4% or less, especially during periods of reduced inflation. As Krauthammer pointed out, the Obama freeze is "locking in the higher spending that Obama slid in last year.". "State of Denial" at IBD

Obama's Contempt for Us The People

Here is part of Rob Tracinski's piece called "Father Knows Best" at The Intellectual Activist where he comments on Obama's State of The Union Address this week. The President almost can't help repelling us. I personally find him contemptuous of us 'little people' as he tries every which way to change our founding ideals to the ideas of Progressives. It's time to study who these people are - the Progressives. A good place to start is a book recently out by Jonah Goldberg called "Liberal Fascism". You will be astonished as to how we got to where we are today- Woodrow Wilson, Teddy Roosevelt and Franklin Roosevelt are major players.

...He also made it clear, more subtly, that he isn't really talking to us anyway. Here is how Obama described people's discontent with his administration: "I campaigned on the promise of change—change we can believe in, the slogan went. And right now, I know there are many Americans who aren't sure if they still believe we can change—or at least, that I can deliver it. But remember this—I never suggested that change would be easy, or that I can do it alone." This is not addressed to the general public or to independent voters. They have not been concerned about his failure to deliver "change"; they've been concerned that he wants the wrong kind of change. So who is the audience for this speech? He's talking to his "base" on the left, trying to shore up their support. And he's talking to Democrats in Congress: "I know it's an election year. And after last week, it is clear that campaign fever has come even earlier than usual. But we still need to govern. To Democrats, I would remind you that we still have the largest majority in decades, and the people expect us to solve some problems, not run for the hills." So his main recommendation is that the left should band together to overrule the verdict of the voters and shove the health care bill through anyway.

I don't think he'll succeed. But he will persist long enough to expose his contempt for the American people and thoroughly repel them.

"To Contract New Debt is Not The Way to Pay Old Ones"

Much of what President Washington said should be repeated and repeated and taught in our schools. They are very relevant today as government oversteps its boundaries by taking us as a country into such debt that it boggles the mind. Mr Obama has much to answer for concerning the damage he has done to our beloved nation in the brief span of one year. But we bear a heavier guilt - we the people let it happen.

Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains taken to bring it to light.

GEORGE WASHINGTON, letter to Charles M. Thruston, Aug. 10, 1794

As a very important source of strength and security, cherish public credit. One method of preserving it is, to use it as sparingly as possible; avoiding occasions of expense by cultivating peace, but remembering also that timely disbursements to prepare for danger frequently prevent much greater disbursements to repel it; avoiding likewise the accumulation of debt, not only by shunning occasions of expense, but by vigorous exertions in time of peace to discharge the debts, which unavoidable wars may have occasioned, not ungenerously throwing upon posterity the burthen, which we ourselves ought to bear.

GEORGE WASHINGTON, Farewell Address, Sep. 17, 1796

However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.
GEORGE WASHINGTON, Farewell Address, Sep. 17, 1796

To contract new debts is not the way to pay old ones.

GEORGE WASHINGTON, letter to James Welch, Apr. 7, 1799

There is nothing so likely to produce peace as to be well prepared to meet an enemy.

Barney Frank Is Like Putting The Wolf in Charge of The Chicken Coop

Yea, sure this guy Barney Frank, you know the one that came up with the idea of Fannie and Freddie now recommends abolishing them "in their current form" and he wants to design a whole new system of housing financing! Precious! that his first "invention" caused the destruction of our economy he wants to design another system for financing mortgages. It's like allowing a counterfeiter into the bank vault. Barney Frank should be voted out of office if not put in jail for the shenanigans he ran the past few years!

Sixteen months after taking control of mortgage financing giants Fannie Mae (FNM) and Freddie Mac, (FRE) the government is ready to start debating what to do with them.

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank got the ball rolling on Friday, saying, "The committee will be recommending abolishing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in their current form and coming up with a whole new system of housing finance."

The Obama administration has promised more clarity with the release of its fiscal 2011 budget in early February.

But analysts believe their future status is unlikely to be determined soon, both because of the fragile state of the housing market and a lack of political consensus.

Frank's comments weren't especially surprising. The government will eventually have to end its control over Fannie and Freddie, or else give up the pretense that they are not federal agencies. Further, the least likely outcome is a return to their pre-conservatorship ways of seeking to maximize profit while marching to the tune of government regulations and enjoying implicit guarantees. "To us, it looks like just another example of ideologically driven climate deceit"

And the dance of deceit and lies goes on and on and on....

Hoaxes: Climate researchers and the Weather Channel's founder accuse NASA of the same data manipulation as Britain's Climate Research Unit. Were weather stations cherry-picked to hide the temperature drop?

We recently commented on how our space agency for two years refused Freedom of Information requests on why it has had to repeatedly correct its climate figures.

In a report on global warming on KUSI television by Weather Channel founder and iconic TV weatherman John Coleman, that reticence has been traced to the deliberate manipulation and distortion of climate data by NASA.

As Coleman noted in a KUSI press release, NASA's two primary climate centers, the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) in Asheville, N.C., and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies at Columbia University in New York City, are accused of "creating a strong bias toward warmer temperatures through a system that dramatically trimmed the number and cherry-picked the locations of weather observation stations they use to produce the data set on which temperature record reports are based."

Joseph D'Aleo, of, said the analysis found NASA "systematically eliminated 75% of the world's stations with a clear bias toward removing higher-latitude, high-altitude and rural locations." The number of actual weather stations used to calculate average global temperatures was reduced from about 6,000 in the 1970s to about 1,500 today. The number of reporting stations in Canada dropped from 600 to 35.

E. Michael Smith, a computer programming expert who worked with D'Aleo, said he found "patterns in the input data from NCDC that looked liked dramatic and selective deletions of thermometers from cold locations." The more he looked, the more he found "patterns of deletion that could not be accidental."

Stations in places such as the Andes and Bolivia have virtually vanished

"The Scott Heard Around The World"

The win by Scott Brown in Massachusetts for the seat of Ted Kennedy which he held for 47 years was won by an unknown Republican! This is incredible and is really "the shot heard around the world" going back to our revolution. Hopefully, this means that sane and center right Americans will have their voices heard and the Obama socialist machine can be held at bay for 3 more years and then we can return to our roots: Our right to live our life the way we see fit, the liberty to make our own decision without the nanny state holding our hand and an open road to pursue our happiness the way each individual sees fit for his own life.

Could The Dem Machine Steal the Election From Scott Brown?

Scott Brown must win in Massachusetts to slow the Obama machine down to preserve our country.

...And in an extraordinary reversal, a new poll shows the race tilting toward a landslide for Brown, who is winning overwhelmingly among Republican and Independents, and who is even getting the votes of as many as 20% of Massachusetts Democrats.

How is he getting the Democrats? Listen to actor John Ratzenberger—famous as Cliff Claven in the Boston-set TV show "Cheers"—at a rally for Brown talking about about the difference between the old blue-collar Democrats and the new party establishment.

This isn't the Democratic party of our fathers and grandfathers. This is the party of Woodstock hippies. I was at Woodstock—I built the stage. And when everything fell apart, and people were fighting for peanut-butter sandwiches, it was the National Guard who came in and saved the same people who were protesting them. So when Hillary Clinton a few years ago wanted to build a Woodstock memorial, I said it should be a statue of a National Guardsman feeding a crying hippie.

It's worth mentioning in this context—and I'm sure Ratzenberger did so—that Scott Brown has served 20 years in the National Guard...

...The more it looks like Brown might actually win, the more nervous we get that the Democrats, in their panic, will try to steal the vote with the kind of dishonest recount that reversed a close vote in 2008's Minnesota Senate race, or at least get it close enough to be able to tie up the election in court... Unions Get the Taxpayers Dough But Brown May Get Massachusetts

The Intellectual Activist has a great article on the suicide of the Democratic party - at least for now. They are totally bankrupt (not that the Republicans aren't bankrupt as well) and they don't seem to realize it. With Obama giving cash and favors to those that vote the right way, it is truly obscene what passes for politics today. Fortunately, regular Americans do seem to realize it as the upcoming election Massachusetts is showing us. Scott Brown has come out of nowhere and is ahead in the polls for the Senate seat left open after Ted Kennedy's death. Maybe the people have had enough of Washington corruption and we can kick the bums out.

...That brings us to the latest on the health care bill. The unions had objected that an excise tax on generous health insurance plans would hit some of their workers. So the Obama administration agreed to eliminate the tax—for the unions. According to reports on the compromise, "In a significant victory for unions, the 40 percent excise tax would not apply to policies covering workers in collective bargaining agreements, state and local workers and members of voluntary employee benefit associations through Dec. 31, 2017."

This is the key to the economic system President Obama wants to create: a system in which economic benefits go only to those with the right political connections—which is always the real meaning and end result of a socialist economy, anyway.

In less than a year in power, the Democrats have exposed themselves to the public as the party of massive, open, brazen corruption. In return, I suspect that they are about to be dealt a string of devastating political defeats.

The latest poll on the special election in Massachusetts shows Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown ahead by 50-46. This is significant, not just because of Brown's numbers, but because it is the first poll showing Democrat Martha Coakley below 50%. For the incumbent, or in this case the presumptive leader in the race, to slip below 50% is usually an indication that voters are inclined to take a chance on the challenger.

A few weeks ago, nearly everyone—myself included—described Scott Brown's candidacy as a shot in the dark, with nearly impossible odds of succeeding. He is quickly becoming the favorite. Read at

Scott Brown - The Man That Can Defeat The Awful Health care Bill

There's a good chance that Scott Brown's win of the Senate seat in Massachusetts that was held by Ted Kennedy for a gazillion years would destroy Obama's terrible Health care bill thereby putting us back on the road to saving our economy. Killing the 60 vote majority that the Dems need to take over 20% of our economy is the best New Year's present out country can get right now. VOTE FOR SCOTT BROWN if you're from Massachusetts!

These Groups Are Not Pro-Earth, They Just Hate Human Beings

If you donate money to the following groups you may want to really check them out. You actually are donating to the destruction of our way of life and your own destruction. Now if you're for a return to the Pleistocene then go ahead and donate but don't cry when we're reduced to living in caves and hovels eking out a living worse than that of any third world nation. My philosophy is to run the other way when someone starts spouting for "Mother earth". They invariably want humans to give up their way of life.

Deception, Deceit and Lies - Climategate Uncovered

The depth of deception, deceit and lies (all synonyms?)of Climategate is unbelievable especially because of the countries involved - Britain and America. What a shame. Shame on us for believing this hooey for so many years and shame on Britain more specifically the University of East Anglia where the secret emails showing how they were trying to coverup the data that went against their religion of Global warming was discovered. The Scam of Global Warming Shuts Down Industries

I found this website thanks to Rob Tracinski's TIA article on the fraud of Global Warming. The scientist Edwin X. Berry, PhD writes of the ominous day that perhaps started the whole global warming scam and it was started by a lawyer. Dr. Berry's blog is called Climate Physics. Please read it and learn about this hugh scam perpetrated on the world- the scam of global warming.

On October 31,2009, the once largest aluminum plant in the world will shut down. With it goes another American industry and more American jobs. The Columbia Falls Aluminum Company in Montana will shut down its aluminum production because it cannot purchase the necessary electrical power to continue its operations.

How did this happen in America? America was once the envy of the world in its industrial capability. America's industrial capacity built America into the most productive nation the world had ever known. Its standard of living rose to levels never before accomplished. Its currency became valuable and powerful, allowing Americans to purchase imported goods at relatively cheap prices.

America grew because of innovation and hard work by the pioneers of the industrial revolution, and because America has vast natural resources. A great economy, as America once was, is founded on the ability to produce electrical energy at low cost. This ability has been extinguished. Why?

Columbia Falls Aluminum negotiated a contract with Bonneville Power Administration in 2006 for Bonneville to supply electrical power until September 30, 2011. But, responding to lawsuits, the 9th US Circuit Court ruled the contract was invalid because it was incompatible with the Northwest Power Act. Therefore, the combination of the Northwest Power Act and a US Circuit Court were the final villains that caused the shutdown of Columbia Falls Aluminum.

But the real reasons are much more complicated. Why was it not possible for Columbia Falls Aluminum to find sources of electricity other than Bonneville?
We need to look no further than the many environmental groups like the Sierra Club and to America's elected officials who turned their backs on American citizens and in essence themselves, for they too are citizens of this country. These officials bought into the green agenda promoted by the heavily funded environmental groups. Caving to pressure, they passed laws and the environmental groups filed lawsuits that began turning off the lights in America. The dominos started to fall.

They began stopping nuclear power plants in the 1970's. They locked up much of our coal and oil resources with land laws. They passed tax credits, which forces taxpayers to foot the bill for billionaire investors to save taxes by investing in less productive wind and solar energy projects.

In 1988, the Environmental Protection Agency called a meeting of atmospheric scientists and others with environmental interests. I remember well the meeting I attended in the San Francisco Bay Area. The meeting was in a theater-like lecture room with the seating curved to face the center stage and rising rapidly toward the back of the room. Attending were many atmospheric scientists whom I knew from Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, Stanford Research Institute and some local colleges.

The room became silent when a man walked up to the lectern. He told us that the next big national problem was global warming. He explained how human carbon dioxide emissions were trapping the earth's radiation like a greenhouse and causing the atmosphere to heat beyond its normal temperature. He said this will lead to environmental disasters. He finished by saying the EPA will now concentrate its research funding toward quantifying the disasters that would be caused by our carbon dioxide.

The room was silent. I was the first to raise my hand to ask a question, "How can you defend your global warming hypothesis when you have omitted the effects of clouds which affect heat balance far more than carbon dioxide, and when your hypothesis contradicts the paper by Lee * in the Journal of Applied Meteorology in 1973 that shows the atmosphere does not behave like a greenhouse?"
He answered me by saying, "You do not know what you are talking about. I know more about how the atmosphere works than you do."

Not being one to drop out of a fight, I responded, "I know many of the atmospheric scientists in this room, and many others who are not present but I do not know you. What is your background and what makes you know so much more than me?"
He answered, "I know more than you because I am a lawyer and I work for the EPA."
After the meeting, many of my atmospheric science friends who worked for public agencies thanked me for what I said, saying they would have liked to say the same thing but they feared for their jobs.

And that, my dear readers, is my recollection of that great day when a lawyer, acting as a scientist, working for the federal government, announced global warming.

Fast forward to today. The federal government is spending 1000 times more money to promote the global warming charade than is available to those scientists who are arguing against it. Never before in history has it taken a massive publicity campaign to convince the public of a scientific truth. The only reason half the public thinks global warming may be true is the massive amount of money put into global warming propaganda... United States Government in Denial That Islamic Terrorists are Evil

"War is scary. Scarier still is a government in denial that evil people are waging war against our country and our civilization."

Janet Napolitano is way out of her depth. It's time to get rid of her and put in a man that will be a fierce warrior against these Islamic terrorists. They need to be fought with bravery and with everything we have - not like we have been fighting - like pansies.

...Our top counterterrorism officials were "shocked" that an "individual" conducted an al-Qaida plot. They must have been asleep when the shoe bomber struck eight years ago. Are they still asleep?

White House counterterrorism czar John O. Brennan and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, the two highest-ranking officials charged with protecting America from terrorist attacks, say they failed to see the tree because they were busy looking at the forest.

The two held a joint White House briefing after the president's statement last Thursday. They were asked, "What was the most shocking, stunning thing that you believe came out of the reviews?"

Their answer is what was stunning.

Brennan said that "we had a strategic sense of sort of where they were going, but we didn't know they had progressed to the point of actually launching individuals here. And we have taken that lesson, and so now we're all on top of it."

According to Secretary Napolitano, "the tactic of using an individual to foment an attack, as opposed to a large conspiracy or a multiperson conspiracy such as we saw in 9/11 ... really emphasizes now the renewed importance on how different intelligence is integrated and analyzed, and threat streams are followed through."

They don't call it a war — and they obviously don't consider it to be a war, but rather a law enforcement issue. So why should anyone expect them — or those they supposedly manage and inspire — to act with an urgency that only a war can demand?...READ at IBD

The Book of Gore - And His Lies

Global warming is falling apart. We ARE NOT in a warming period we have been in a 10 year cooling period. This winter surely shows that. brrrrrr...It's 60 below 0 in North Dakota as I write this.

Climate Change: A new study shows that Earth's ability to absorb carbon dioxide from all sources, including man, has remained unchanged for 160 years. As it turns out, there may be no carbon to offset.

A major tenet of the global warming religion, straight from the Book of Gore, has been that the ability of the earth to handle increasing CO2 emissions is finite and that once the "tipping point" is reached, the earth will warm uncontrollably. Well, another climate domino has fallen — the myth that man-made CO2 is leading to climate catastrophe.

This "settled science" has been upended by an unsettling (for warm-mongers) new study out of the University of Bristol in England. Unlike the Climate-gate charlatans at the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, Wolfgang Knorr of Bristol's Earth Sciences Department followed the data where it led instead of trying to manipulate it to "hide the decline" in global temperatures the earth has experienced in the last decade.

The new study, published in the online journal Geophysical Research Letters, does not deny that increasing amounts of CO2 have been generated as the world has industrialized, eradicated disease, produced agricultural abundance and improved man's standard of living. It does show that only 45% of man's emissions, not 100% as warmers claim, stays in the atmosphere, and that includes the carbon emissions of the private jets that flew to Copenhagen last month and the limos that drove the occupants around.

The rest is absorbed by nature, and that percentage hasn't changed since 1850. Knorr arrived at that figure by relying solely on measurements and statistical data, including historical records extracted from Antarctic ice. He did not rely, as the CRU did, on badly written computer models with built-in fudge factors to direct the data to a foregone conclusion....

"It's Clear That Government Health Care Doesn't Work"

IBD has a good article on the Obama fiasco regarding the Mayo Clinic. Sad very Sad.

Health Reform: President Obama suggested last summer that the Mayo Clinic was the model for government medical care. On Monday, the Mayo Clinic in Arizona stopped taking Medicare patients. Now what?

If the nonprofit Mayo Clinic is "what works," as the president believes, then it's clear that government health care doesn't. If Washington can't manage a system with fewer than 50 million participants well enough for those who paid for it to get care, then it sure can't run a program that will eventually include every person in the country.

Obama's comment didn't go unnoticed at the Mayo Clinic. While it supports some elements of health reform, the famed practice known for its high-quality care said that under the Democrats' reforms the "real losers will be the citizens of the United States."

Though the Democrats' plans for medical care haven't become law, the losing has already begun for the roughly 3,000 Medicare patients served by the Mayo Clinic in Glendale, Ariz.

They will either have to pay cash for medical services or find other doctors who still accept patients in the government's health care program for the elderly. Those aren't enviable choices.

One, no American who has paid into the Medicare system for his or her entire working life wants to begin paying for health care out of his or her own pocket. It's cruel to force workers to fund a system they can't draw benefits from. Read Mayo vs Medicare

Democrats Kill a Successful School Voucher Program in D.C. - Are You Surprised?

This is big government at its finest hour. The Democrats have officially killed a successful private school voucher program banishing more than 3,300 low-income children back to the DC schools they so desperately wanted to escape.

The Heartland Institute reports:

The leaders of D.C.’s school choice movement, Kevin P. Chavous (former D.C. Councilman) and Virginia Walden Ford (executive director of D.C. Parents for School Choice), today issued the following statement:

“House and Senate Appropriators this week ignored the wishes of D.C.’s mayor, D.C.’s public schools chancellor, a majority of D.C.’s city council, and more than 70 percent of D.C. residents and have mandated the slow death of the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program. This successful school voucher program—for D.C.’s poorest families—has allowed more than 3,300 children to attend the best schools they have ever known.

The decision to end the program, a decision buried in a thousand-page spending bill and announced right before the holidays, destroys the hopes and dreams of thousands of D.C. families. Parents and children have rallied countless times over the past year in support of reauthorization and in favor of strengthening the OSP. Read at The Heartland Institute

"Let's Pretend" That The Terrorists Are Not Terrorists

This editorial is right on the money. Obama and his minions ARE pretending that terrorists are not terrorists but plain old criminals. And as these terrorists in countries like Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen see after a year that our President is soft on crime they will mount ever more and more daring attacks on a weakened America. Mr. Obama wake up from your dreams of redistributive justice and do the job we elected you for - The PROTECTION OF AMERICA AND AMERICANS.

...The U.S. now holds a prisoner of war who has knowledge that could foil future terrorist operations. The Obama administration has a moral obligation to extract it from Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.

The White House seems very big on the idea that fear is our enemy, not our friend. When sheer luck prevented the destruction of Northwest flight 253, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano instantaneously insisted there was no larger conspiracy involved — even though the failed bomber himself said otherwise.

And for nearly a year now it has been official U.S. policy, from the commander in chief on down, to eschew wartime terminology. Forget "global war on terror" and substitute "overseas contingency operations." Cut "terrorism," paste in "man-made disasters."

Quelling fears, however, isn't the real purpose behind the altering of the U.S. government's post-9/11 language. This is:

If the public stops believing the free world is in a protracted war with Islamofascist mass murderers, then the question of which party's anti-terrorism policy is better loses all meaning. You can't lose a non-war, any more than you can win one.

If Abdulmutallab is akin to the D.C. Sniper or the Son of Sam, then why turn him upside down in search of information? What's the point in placing another David Berkowitz in a cold jail cell, or depriving a John Allen Muhammad clone of sleep so he'll tell us what he knows?

Former Vice President Dick Cheney hit it on the head this week in charging that this administration is playing an inexcusable game of "Let's Pretend." If we close Guantanamo Bay and send terrorist POWs to some hamlet in Illinois, if we have ACLU-friendly judges try 9/11 conspirators in liberal New York City, then the American people will realize that the big-government sophisticates can take care of these problems.

You Are A Capitalist If You have Something to Buy or Sell

It's funny, strange and hypocritical for those human beings that rail and rant against business and then turn around and live their lives filled with things that went from the mind of a thinker to the factory of a producer, to the retail store of merchant, to the home of an owner who bought the product. Business has been the business of human beings since the emergence of thinking man. We are all businessmen in a sense...we all have something to sell (or buy). We are all capitalists whether you like it or not. And why should we not love capitalism? We all have something to sell or something to buy.

The anti-business mindset . . . is worthy of a pampered adolescent who is searching for a cause with which to display his unique moral sensibility. It is not worthy of an adult who should be able to use his imagination, if not actual experience, to appreciate the extraordinary human effort that has gone into creating the delightful tools that we daily take for granted. On my desk sit various humble objects—a tiny clock, a stapler, a paper clip box, a Lucite cook book stand for holding up drafts and other papers while I type. Each object represents a fractal geometry of complexity, composed as it is of parts that themselves require enterprise to manufacture, assemble, and deliver, all born along on waves of energy and infrastructure to which yet another set of entrepreneurs contributed. The fact that all of those distributors and manufacturers tried to make a profit does not detract from the fact that they offered goods which enhance our lives. . . .

It is the ingratitude that kills me the most among anti-business types. The materials that furnish a single room in an American home required daring, perseverance, and organizational skill from millions of individuals over generations. I hope they all got filthy rich.

Obama's Utopia Will Spend Us Into Chains and Then Into Oblivion

Dr. Miklos K. Radvanyi writing at Frontiers of Freedom ( shows us how Obama is just another power luster in the mold of the Marxist-Leninist worldview. They somehow know better than anyone else how to run an economy and how people should live and what they should think and do with their lives. Obama is indeed a small man with small ideas that have been tried and found to have failed utterly and with devastating consequences to ordinary people trying to live their lives with meaning. Obviously, 50 million dead from starvation or in the gulags of Soviet Russia, another 30-40 million dead in the Nazi Germany's concentration camps and untold millions dead in China from madman Mao is not enough for men with the minds of thugs. To rid ourselves of these types good people who believe in man's right to his freedom of both mind and body need to stand up at every outrage and make their voices heard. We are in an outrage now...with Obama spending us into oblivion. Read Dr. Radvany's words below. He lived through this socialism in Hungary - he knows what it is that we have here in America and where it will lead us.

The first decade of the United States’ political history in the 21st century will, when written, furnish the most striking and convincing proof of the great Western civilization’s decreasing sense of identity against the onslaught of a small minority’s tenaciously egotistical obsession with elitist purity, boundless hatred for universal freedom, ruthless opposition to popular sovereignty, and a destructive sense of social justice.

...What really matters is the Marxist-Leninist worldview that mandates total control over both ideas and actions by the absolute power of an enlightened few, including the entire world, together with every human being in it. The two false buzzwords in this circle of anti-Western fanatics are “progress” and “collectivism”. Their definition of progress, known as historical determinism, is, in reality, historical revisionism that is based on tyrannical intolerance and visceral hatred toward humanity. Similarly, the true meaning of collectivism is not the voluntary participation of the majority in the democratic process, but the creation of a welfare state through the perverted application of the democratic principles...

... Brushing aside arrogantly the obvious fact that economies controlled by vast government bureaucracies unfailingly met inglorious ends at every country in the past, the Obama administration has proceeded from day one to build up a monster government outside the constitutional framework of the American Republic.

Borrowing from Jean Paul Marat of the French Revolution, whose newspaper proudly displayed the motto of the most extremist revolutionaries “Let us tax the rich and subsidize the poor”, the democrats dominated White House and Congress have already initiated and passed legislation aimed at enforcing economic equality, destroying existing financial incentives, competition, profit and individualism in an essentially free market economy. With incompetent levity President Obama and his comrades continue to proceed on their misguided experiment, like all the destructive utopians of the world in the 19th and 20th centuries before them. Irresponsible spending, punitive taxes and slow economic growth have already caused grave and perhaps irreparable damage to the United States and its traditionally vigorous free economy.
